until then you could start collecting coffee grounds,compost materials, and manure. pile it in a corner of your patch and wait till spring. you might not be able to use it early in the season, but it will be better than doing nothing.

Can't go wrong with 25-30 lbs/1000 ft2, 6-24-24 granular fertilizer. If you have applied a lot of manure, I would cut that in half. Any granular fertilizer with the same ratio would be ok, just adjust the rate acordingly, i.e. 5-20-20 or 7-27-27. These can be purchased at any farm supply store.
