Has anyone else noticed that both leaf characteristics and overall plant habit seem to be passed maternally? We know there are basically two types of genes; nuclear and cytoplasmic. Nuclear genes abide by the principles of Mendelian inheritance. Cytoplasmic genes do not and are most often passed maternally, rarely paternally. While I certainly don't want to encourage a thread of wild-assed theories here I would be interested in hearing your observations.
