thanks Smitty, that is also one of the crosses that I was considering. May not produce very pretty progeny, but I think they will go heavy.

Scott, if one of my seeds ever gets hot it is going to be like hitting a inside queen...LMAO
I really woud appreciate more suggestions!!!

It's not a beauty contest but there is something to be said for a nice orange fruit.
The 708 is the only one that will have a good even color.
708 X 695 Handy.
Every one else is creamy white or a squampkin. (not that it is a bad thing...)
No shortage of some of the best possible seed in your patch Owen!

you could cross the 805 back into the 1092, or if you want to add some color cross it with the 708. You should plant the 805, it's a great seed. I would probably plant the 805, 695, 752, 845, and 708 unless i wanted to do certain crosses with the 1092. Tom

I would say 752, 695, 845, 708, 805... However.... If you had room and just wanted the genetic crosses... 1092 is a beauty for that....1092 x 845, 1092 x 752, and 1092 x 695, and 1092 x 805 all would be great...so that is 4 on one plant, What would you use the 1092 as Owen...Genetics are mainly Size? Sorry if I confused you... Steve

For the 752 Blair, the 805,845 or 1092 would be most desirable crosses for line breeding. The idea being not to bring in any other genetic material that isn't present in the 752.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I wanted to plant the 1092 orginally so that I could cross the 805 back into it. The 752 Blair was going to get some 1092 pollen if the timing was right, if not then 805. I was going to use the best looking plants (maybe just gut feelings) to cross the 805, 695 and the 845. Thanks again guys, looks like the 708 is out this year.

just remember that everything is up to YOU, the grower. i hate the fact that i have to keep shortening my list of seeds i'll be planting, but no one is in charge of that but me. i would rely ALSO on the AGGC and the offspring of each of those seeds before making any hasty decisions based on others' opinions. as someone else said, till a little more and grow that 6th plant! good luck in any event, and of course everyones' advice is good advice. up to you. eric

LOL! ya got me there! i just looked at the 708 La Rue, and by golly it is pretty reliably making 900+pounders, but all the others are dang good seeds also! ummm, being the same cross as the 1230 and the 1016, wow that's nice, and i think perhaps the "silver bullet" just hasn't lined-up with the barrel yet. maybe this year,, in your patch, the new, freshly-tilled one! okay the 1092 has done a 900-plus also....and you wanna try to create the new 805 by pollinating that with the 845.....man, you got a tough choice there, buddy! being that the 1092 is an older seed, i guess that if you cannot plant the 6th seed, well, it's yer call of course, and i see clearly your dilemma. so back to square one. i would plant the 1092 because it is an older seed and you have plans for the genetics. eric silent now............"if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice"---RUSH----crank it and believe it!

i like that last sentience, and could not agree with you more. not making a decision is also a decision! I do have another question though...you mentioned crossing the 845 into the 1092. i was thinking of doing the 805 back into it. maybe I should grow two in the 1092. at any rate, why do you think the 845 would be a better cross? i really do appreciate your help, i know in the end it is my call, but i respect all opinions, and really need the input.

i think what i was getting at was that the 1092 Burke was 935 Lloyd selfed, produced the 805 Pukos which was pollinated by the 723, which has the same cross as the 845. so i was thinking 1092 Burke poll'd by the 845 would be very similar to the cross of the 805 Pukos, which is now throwing-down 1300+ pounders----i typoed that word 3 times, having to laugh at "ponunders"...lol again.... umm, so if you had the 723 in yer lineup instead of the 845, that would be even closer still. like a Beachy or Miller remake, God luv 'em! believe me i had to redheck the AGGC a few times while typing today! tell you what, what i like to do is let a known cull possibility fruit get to beachball size for the genetics only, and cull it off to let the biggest fruit really do its thing.....and then i STILL have a couple of hundred seeds that the whole world will want! "hey, buddy, how ya doin? i see you've got a few hundred 805 remakes there, and....." lol! hope i help! eric

i could grow two on the 1092. one crossed with the 805 the other with the 845. i do not have a 723, anybody want to donate? okay, now that i have asked that question, i still think that the 805 crossed back may produce a purer seed. The real problem is if I do not grow that seed, no one will...LOL. i can only hope that i produce a 1400 ponunder!

LOL! i'm glad that part of my job is to proofread things here at work, (if i want to) or else THEY will find it later and i'll end-up fixing it! i just barely caught "ponunder" at the end--hearty chuckle i got from it...wheeze, cough, chuckle----yeah, the crosses you mentioned sound like a plan for your plant. good luck with it-------by the weigh, yer getting mail! eric
