Mendi grew a 1756 that looks very orange... and crossed his with the 1625. Could this be the ‘orange McMullen’???

If you look at the progeny the 1756 looks like it’s got great shape and the 1625 has great % hvy. I think these traits might carry in some of the other crosses too... not just the 2145. Rather than seeing the 2145 as the end-all... maybe the better way to see things is to look for a great trait in a selfed line and cross it with a great trait from another selfed line.

I wish someone could get a good orange 1756 x with a good orange 1495 line (1195 Kaminski...?) ...In hopes of an orange ‘2145’.

Ruben sent me a thank you package...thank you Ruben, it was unexpectced, It included a few of his seeds including the 1789. Ruben grew a few big orange seeds...his 1875 which is 2145 x sib is orange also. I need more space to grow..I don't know what to start in a month.

I've read in Ruben's diary the 1875 was 10% heavy and grew for 90 days vs the 2031.5 at 120 days. I was going to choose it over the 2031 but then again I'd like to see what pumpkin the 1789 Mc Mendi will grow being a remake of the 2145. Not enough space or time and too many good seeds in my line up to choose from..lol Decisions...Decisions

Carl I keep changing my mind. I know any of the seeds I have have the potential to grow me a new personal best. Question is what one will get me to 1812 lbs:)

Yes, that and, the 1824 Shenoha is the only one with any offspring, being that it is the ONLY one that is not a '17 seed. What? No strawbs? What'll we have for dessert? lol---
Track Record? i've not heard of that in a while.
oh, the 1824's is: 1945 Sperry '17; so, i'd plant the 1824.
if we could predict which seeds would definitely produce a WR or PB based on the 'genetics in this one and the genetics in that one', we'd ALL have new PBs every year and be within a pound or two of the WR. sometimes i regret having NOT gotten seeds fresh out of a pumpkin at seed auctions, but i
REALLY enjoy looking at what ELSE the seeds i HAVE bought have produced. brand-new seeds are always a gamble.
Sincerely, though, good luck with your choice(s). eg

I have both plants growing so the 1195 Kaminski x 1774.5 Carter should happen... Thats my orange 2145 remake... It won't be huge so it won't attract a lot of interest but I am very happy with the 1774.5 Carter plant -again - second year I've grown it. (Very flawless healthy appearance.)
