Ok does anyone think that the seeds(selfed) from a plant that double vined on me at about 3ft will through this trait in its seeds? how bad are the odds it will produce another plant that doubles? or is it just a random occurance? unfortunately I do not know the genetics of the plant that I got the seeds from? Thanks Bumkin

Its hard to say what caused the double vine. It may have been less to do with genetics and more to do with growing conditions.
Since you don't know the genetics behind the seed I wouldn't plant it unless there was something very special about the plant. Like it grew the perfect looking pumpkin or it grew something huge. Instead for next season I'd grow seeds that give you a shot of growing whatever qualities it is that you desire and will produce seeds you want to grow in the future. There will be tons of seeds given away on this site later in fall for free. Then you can research what genetics it is you want to grow over the winter, if you don't already know.
Good luck Kevin

I almost forgot, I have lots of seeds from controlled crosses for both BIG-n-ugly pumpkins and big-n-PRETTY pumpkins. E-mail me and I'll send you some seeds later this fall.

Hmmmm...It's probably 50/50 but why take chances? The 1370 Rose likes to double too...so send me all your 1370's. There's no sense torturing yourself.
Seriously, some seeds do double more than others but they are still sought out & grown. Often with great results.
