We planted the 1186 and are very happy with it. It has maintained very good foliage ahead of the fruit.
It is flat in shape, about 4 feet wide, and 4 1/2 feet long. It throws fewer tertiaries than most plants.
We haven't taped it, but hope to do so tomorrow if it doesn't rain. I figure it to be in the 900's right now.
I'm anxious to see how it does through September when we push it with potassium.
It seems all of our surviving fruits are very close in weight. I think we picked some good seeds genetically speaking. Just need to figure out how to get that size a bit larger by August 1st.
The 1186 does well here. We crossed it with a 559 Liggett and should see some orange in it next year. The 559 was a very fast grower and split on me in July at about 600 pounds. This cross will be planted next year.
