This will be my second year of "real" growing and I keep tossing the possibilities and crosses around in my head but I can't make any decisions. Here is my lineup (for the moment) 1233.5 Reiss (670 Diagle X 801.5 Stelts) 487 Horton (1370 Rose X Self) 566 Young (869 Calai X 723 Bobier) 615 Zuhkle (1101 Northrup X 1125 Frantz)
I was thinking of selfing the 1233, and using a male from the 1233 to pollinate a female on the 487. I can't figure out what would make sense in crossing the other two plants. This is where I need help.
I also have the 199 Ornskov (670 Diagle X self) and a 869 Calai X self. Should these be substituted for one or two of the seeds mentioned above. I am so confused!!!!

566 Young X 615 Zuhlke and the reverse. If that doesn't appeal to you 566 Young X 615 Zuhlke and pollinate the 615 with the 1233. Just my opinion.

if your looking for orange and round i would go with 199 ornskov x 1233.5 reiss. i will be growing both of these and plan on selfing the 199. if you want big i would go with 487 x 566. just a guess.

do to all off the seeds you have are 2005 crosses, it is kinda a crap shoot at this point. i like that 615 zuhlke.lol i think i will self it myself that way if it turns out with good orange color i will reinforce it. the 615 x 1233 looks good also. 1233 x self , 487 x 1233, 199 x selfed 869. i could go on and on.with the seeds you have many good crosses can made. steve

Killer orange lineup. I would self the 487 because it's a self of the proven 1370 Rose. Self the 1233 also as its going to be widely planted this year and there wasnt many seeds from it. If it does well a self would be most valuable. I would then cross the 566 with the 487 because the 487 is a self of a proven seed. I would then cross the 615 with the 1233 hoping the 1233 throws some orange giants this year. Then you will have 2 selfs and 2 crosses.

well, like STEVE Z said, it is a craps shoot when it comes to planting unproven, recent seeds. i mean, where do you all think SQUASH come from? they happen, from time to time. but, of course, i wish you all the best that are seeking the ultimate orange/big/round/no dill ringer/fruits in '06!
