Last year was my first year for growing a semi big punkin. Ole Longbeard got me started and now Im out of control, just ask my wife. This year I obtained the 1233 Reiss from DIll. I was wondering what the cross was to produce this seed.

The 670 Daigle has produced a couple over 1000 pounds and 4 or 5 over 900, the 801 stelts has produced 4 or 5 over 1000 pounds. I'm guessing the cross should be a good one.

Hey Cuttbow what other seed do you have in your lineup for this spring? I need to know what I'm up against. We need to think hard about giving the men in the springs a run for there money.

a nice thing about the 1233 is that it was grown by a member of this site. Check it out here:

Yo Longbeard, my other seed was the Kline, I dont remember the weight cuz my list is at home but it was the second one from the top. With only one seed each Im playin it pretty close, but last year I did the same and was lucky. I would still like to try your other seed but the wife says I better plant the one she got from Mr Langevin too. I hope to use it as a pollinator for the 1233 Reiss and xxxx Kline from this years seed lot. Sending in my soil sample today, should I pick out the composting leaves and pine needles?

Since Im a relative newbee to this what would you think of crossing this with the 1233 Reiss? I checked out the Reiss Diary, what an excellent read.

What is the other parent of the 1204 Kline? Wiz go to briansinsanity.com and search the 1016 Daletas 01 - Impressive progeny.

1204 Kline = 1016 Daletas 01 x 1179 Kline 04
1179 Kline = 735 Pukos 01 x 1016 Daletas 01
This is an impressive cross. Good luck with it.

The further back I go on the family tree the more impressed I am with the potential of this cross. A lot of 846 Calai on both sides. Should be very good crossed with the 1233.5 Reiss.

Brad, why not include the progeny of the 1230 Delates as well? Not to stir this bucket of mud up again but it should be just as relevent. That adds 13 more fruit over 800lbs from the same plant, mostly orange, not to mention the 500 Northrup. -Jim

The Wiz, Long Beard Hope to see you at the official colo. weigh-off this fall 2006, as I do not believe I have met you .. We sure have few and far between growers here in Colorado, and anyone that can show up to the competition with something of decent size and genetic ability or otherwise would be totally welcomed. Been doing it for 12 yrs now and counting, and I thought I knew all of the serious Colo.Giant pumpkin growing people. Need any tips or suggestions about growing a big one here in Colo. let me know . Happy growing 2006

400SF, Tips and suggestions very welcomed here. I have a choice to make, the boss lady , for xmas, got me some kin seeds 1236x1097 (05) Langevin. I purchased the 1233 Reiss and 1204 Kline. I have room for 2 1/2 kins. the half area will not get the amount of sun deserving of a giant, but I better grow the xmas seeds. I'm planning on putting the Kline and Reiss in the big lot and crossing them, but also am considering crossing the two with the Langevin with a possibilty of two kins on each plant depending upon the vines and mother nature. Last year I had two 400's on one plant without knowing what I was doing. This year will be different, I hope. Please Advise

400 SF, Thanks for the offer of help. The Wiz and I need help in a lot of ways LOL. Recently received my soil test back and Craig Lembke walked me through it and made recommendations for improvement. Should make a big difference. I'm already looking forward to the weigh off. I'll try to e-mail you a power point slide show of are very unoffical weigh off that we had last fall.

brad: the 1029.5 kurilich is listed wrong on brians insanity. com. the cross is 1076.5 werner x 1230 daletas. the 967 kurilich is 1230 daletas x 1076.5 werner. aggc has 32 progeny listed for the 1230. ranging from 1028.8 down to 430. the 500 northrup and the 629 northrup are included in that list. i will be using the 1230 for a pollinator this year if it germinates and i don't kill it. lol. steve
