Thought i would ask for help on this. If you could post what seeds you thought produced well this year and some seeds from the '05 season that have good crosses that would help me out. I'm trying to form a list of seeds that are availble out there to people. This, However dos'nt mean you can't post seeds that are hard to get a hold of like the 1068.
Thanks Alex G

personally i like the crosses that our group in the SNGPG produced this past season, plus the 1173 macari from 04.
apparently, many others agreed as our seed promo/ club membership drive sold out in five days.
i would not be afraid to give any of them a run.

Alex, There are so many good crosses from 2005. Many good ones with 898 knauss as a parent. Here's one that I like: 905.2 Toftness--(707 Toftness 01 X 898 Knauss 01) It went about 10% heavy, and from the pic on the seed pack, it's got great shape. The 707 Tofness is: 846 Calai X 723 Bobier. Time will tell on this one. I'd like to contact the grower to see what the pollinator(898) did. Steve Delatas had some very nice looking crosses as well. There are also some 845 Bobier X 898 Knauss(and reverse) out there waiting to be proven.

The 713 Kurkowski is one that hasn't gotten any attention. It's grown two over 1000 pounds. The cross is 846 Calai x 668 Kurkowski or the reverse. It also should be pretty easy to get ahold of. If you've only been growing for a couple of years and want to plant a good seed but don't have much to trade, the 713 might be a good choice. Tom

I really like the 897 Davies, just teetering on the edge of growing it. If one of my others doesn't germ. I'll put it in. What about the 1173 from your grower diary? Or maybe the 720.6 Noel 05 (1068 X 1104.5)! AleX Noel.

500 Beauchemin sounds good to me! A 1300 pounder as the only offspring. Or get the 1314 and cross it into some major lloyd background and there is some vigor in my eyes. The 1314 has no lloyd in it at all. Everything is 898 knauss and a little 790 daletas. I also like the 1180 daletas. It is a quiet seed that has done well for many people. And last of all, try your own seeds. I will be and I know that I can be certain of my cross and that I feel pride in watching my own seed grow. Just my thoughts. DK

I'd let the secondaries grow on that 1068 and make as many different late season pollinations as possible with it. This would probably limit the size of the pumpkin grown on the main some but it would be worth it to get all the seeds. Or with the current seed count problems, maybe make just two or three crosses multiple times to hopefully get more mature seeds. In your area I think you could find many growers willing to trade some pollen from other great plants.

no problem Alex... CowD the 1068 X 1180 Has been done by MR. Sperry. It was the 1253 i believe. It would be a good idea to try the reverse cross though and i might try this next year.
