Mike Frantz grew the 781.5 Frantz 05 (1101Northrup x 1125 Frantz), and Steve Zuhlke grew the 390 est Zuhkle 05 (1125 Frantz x 1101 Northrup) as a genetics plant. If you cross these two, what is it? I assume it's not a sib, but then what would it be called?

Hopefully it would be the 1501 YourNameHere 2006 (781.5 Frantz 05 x 390 Zuhkle 05)

I thought it sounds like a critical part of a Zamboni machine

lol---dibs on seeds no matter what, huh? ha ha ha seems we lost the "l" in Zuhlke, so to be as correct as is possible, it should maybe be FrantZuhlke, thereby keeping each of their names intact. everybody wins, but i do not think it is sibbing. that would involve the same EXACT seed stock planted twice simultaneously, and crossing only between those two plants. yes? it could be considered a kind of reverse sibbing but i don't think that is legal in most states, so it is JUSSSSSST a cross...a special cross, but not much more--eric

Steve also has a 1101 x self and a 1125 x self if you want to start all over again. And I am glad I have them too. Thanks Steve.

This would be an 1101 , 1125 isolation cross and in theory would strengthen the characteristics exhibited by both fruit.

CEIS, is an isolation cross the same as a back cross. Would this be a double back (isolation) cross? Thanks for all info. Peace, Wayne

CEIS, is this a real term (isolation cross), or made up? I only ask because I've never heard these terms before, and it reminds me of what I'm tempted to do with my class sometimes when I'm bored, which is to just make something up and see if they'll buy it. I remember my high school health teacher pulled that on us -- he said that the gamma rays from outer space bend towards gonads when they enter the atmosphere -- I looked around and there was a whole roomful of boys clutching themselves! Now, why do I remember that, and have forgotten all the genetics I supposedly learned?
