Ok I tried this in the squash forum. Those guys must be out dreaming of the green jacket or something. April Pollinated a 552 Sherwood with and 834 Gadberry last year. Both of these are 895 Hester x selfs. What is the likely hood that this is a pumpkin. I say its a pumpkin, and going to be big and orange.

Hmmm, all our 834* and its off spring (823*) have been pale green at first and turn almost black/green by the end of the season. It must be something on Jims side of the gene pool! Probably from the shallow pumpkin end! LOL, anyway may have had pumpkin pollen get in the ole wood pile when you folks pollinated the 834* or was the female the 552? any way as far as I know Jims 552* always throws green too....
P.s the fruit on our #1 823* is getting huge and was sibbed with the #2 823* on July 1st it was a pale green and is getting darker every day, classic 834*.

Nope, definitely the orange is coming from Gerry's!! :o) I agree with Gerry, I think someone else visited the 'ol pumpkin flower last year. Although....... are you ready?..... Brett does have a bright orange 'pumpkin' off his 895 this year! What next? 552's always throw dark green fruit. By the way the 552 is the 895 'sibbed' not selfed.
