I can grow only two of the following seeds in my limited space. My goal is only size of this year's pumpkin, not quality of seeds produced by my pumpkin.
695 Handy '01 (723 Bobier x 545 Handy) 1247 Handy '03 (695 Handy x 801.5 Stelts) 1048 Wallace '04 (500 Wallace x 1068 Wallace) 893.5 Pukos '01 (723 Bobier x 723 Bobier) 1230 Daletas '01 (705 Stelts x 846 Calai) 1123 Daletas '04 (1236 Eaton x 846 Calai) 1157.5 Daletas '04 (961 Daletas x 723 Bobier)
Which two would you grow and cross with each other for a big one this season?
Thanks, Jamie

Crossing your pumpkins this year will have zero effect on how big it gets this year. The seeds from that pumpkin will show the effect of the cross.
With that being said, i like the 695 and the 1048.
best of luck!

Thanks Owen. I never knew that before. The 695 and 1048 sound good.

I'm still open for suggestions. I would be interested to see everyone's input.

I think the 695 Handy has "wicked" potential. The 1230 Daletas might go double but I would still plant it. I would save the 1048 and see what it does in 2005.

My 2 cents would be to go almost like Owen said, Or go 1048 Wallace By 893.5 Pukos. Gauranteed to be butt ugly but should be heavy Eddy

893 grew an 1100 lber has all 723 genes in it. If you cross it into the 695 Handy the offspring will be 2/3 723 Bobier Genes, a heavy one. There is no one wrong answer

Thanks David, thanks Brooks. So far I like the 695 and 1048 with the 893 as a backup.

If I were only looking for weight, I'd plant the 695 and the 893.5.

I'd pick the 695 and 1048 as well. There are no guaruntees which will be largest, but these seem like good choices.

Thanks Martin and Doug. Yeah, choosing between the 893.5 and the 1048 is a tough choice, but I'll definitely grow the 695.

Plant all three - 695, 1048 and 893.5. Then, as one plant underperforms, cull it out.
