What are the offspring like from the 1006 Greer. And what are the offspeing of the 697 Ciliberto like. I was thinking that since the 1006 Greer went heavy, then thats maybe, were the 898 Knauss gets its destinctive tendency to through Heavy OTC pumpkins.

If you have the Giant Pumpkins III book, look at the pic on page 115. The 1156 Larson was an 898 offspring. I truly believe that these characteristics come from the 1006 and/or the 697. This also interests me as to what role the male side of the gene pool plays. Now pull up the family tree for the 1156 and notice all the 1006's on the male side....hmmm I know I'll be planting a 1156 offspring in '05!

Shiznit, You've done lots of home work ehhh... I really like your thinking on the 898 > 1156 > offspring Idea. You banana belt boys can sure grow huge pumpkins in the spring like air of Windsor. -30*f this bone chilling morning in Barrie. Only 6 months left to go until I pollinate my own 1156 offspring. I will be recrossing it again with more Eaton genes. Heavy x size is a tremedously good match. Seams to have worked fine for Alan.
