Probably a stupid question, but I am curious. When a grower who has a 1000 sq ft plant gets 40-50 lbs/day, is it logical that a plant only 500 sq ft, would 20-25 lbs/day be about the same, or is the 500 sq ft plant capable of 40-50 lb/day gains? Seems like 1/2 the root system would have to play a part in daily gains. Again, just curious what experienced growers have experienced in their different grows. Any of the 150 sq ft growers getting large daily gains? This would be a good way to compare with a large number of 150 sq ft growers this year.

A 500 sq ft plant will definitely get nice 40 pound gains. 50 Lb ???? I don't know if 50 would be possible.
40’s are probably only possible if you have your soil up to par, all your vines/ nodes burried to get several tap roots, and stay on a good fert program, keep bugs and disease at bay, etc...

I try to pollinate between 12-18 ft. out which usually means that by day 30 with my plants I will have 450-650 sq. ft. of plant. If my pumpkin does 50 lb. gains it usually starts at around day 30 and will hold that daily avg. to about day 45. During that time the fruit sink usually slows all plant growth way down. At day 45+ the fruit starts slowly releasing it's sink back to the plant and the plant growth starts picking up and will have my 1200 sq. ft. of space filled by the end of the season. Long way of saying that 500 sq. ft. of plant can definitely support 50 lbs. a day. Not sure if it could produce a 2000+ lb. pumpkin though.
