Ehhh...in a greenhouse mayyybe...that’s staying on top of an organic rotation....outside you will have huge insect infestations if you didn’t ...you could still achieve a good sized pumpkin ... i could see 1000+ Given the rest goes right ...be all scabby chewed up by the bugs though...guess it depends what you want out of it...

if not using pesticides.......you might as well pull the plant out........these things will attacked bugs you have never seen before......and most of thwm will kill the plant in a couple weeks after you see them

My first year growing pumpkins I planted seed direct in the garden. Didn't germinate until July. No insecticide and by Labor Day, cucumber beetles were thick as hair on a dog's back. If you don't use insecticides, it is just a bug's food plot.

Ok. Any recommendations on the best all around pesticide for California?

Newsomcide LOL...that should be banned! Screws everything up.
If you want to try an organic type of insecticide then a product called Organocide works fairly well. I use Oragnocide and Merit 75WP and have had good results. In California we don't have nearly the bug problems as most do in the rest of the country.
