Will it hurt the growth of the pumpkin if the plant is covered by shade? I put up 8X10 tarps because the temps were 105 degrees for several days to help with pollination. The tarps do not cover the entire plant, but were kind of a pain to put up. If it will not hurt the growth I would like to leave them up to protect against hail and heavy rain. Any advice would be appreciated.

I can't say with any certaintly that tarps will limit growth but I'm a fan of full sun. I protect the vine tips with foam "tents" above 95 F, the rest of the plant is own it's own.
