How are we going to reign them in?
They are the number one source of ad dollars, and media companies refuse to bite the hand that feeds them. They provide half the money to the FDA, which also wont bite the hand that feeds them. And the universities and science publications are not truly independent either. They're the most tenacious and insidious bunch of snake oil salesmen... Even if all the banks collapse, even if the federal government collapses, big pharma still won't collapse.
So they're not going to be replaced by people who truly care, anytime soon. Lawmakers need to reign them in and quit writing blank checks every time there is a lab leak. Thats a good way to guarantee more lab leaks.
Medicine should be a not-for-profit industry!!!

Big pharma will never be reigned in as long as they have enough politicians in their pocket.

Lately I have been thinking about how easily corruptible they are, but really, its how easily corruptible I might be, how we are all easily corruptible.
There just are certain areas where we have power to do the wrong thing and where there is no accountability, its almost like anarchy.

I see little chance for the return of government derived from of the will of the voters.

Big pharma is a problem but what do you think of the government moving Plum Island Research Facility to the center of the country?
