There was a hint of spring in the air over here today. But technically winter hasnt begun yet. Its strange to get a whiff of spring just a few days after the holiday lights went up.

Mostly mild here with only a few true November/December days. I noticed two days ago that the fish in the pond have become active. You can't see the brook trout but there are about 50 of each.

Southern Washington State and Southern British Columbia got hammered by a winter snowstorm and now (next day) we’ve got an Arctic Outflow Warning with unheard of temperatures in the -20 range overnight. With well over a foot of free white nitrogen on the cover crop, I’m betting in a few days it will all melt and we will be back to normal.

Only 300 mile inland from me at North Pole . Alaska, the high temp is -37 F with low of -41 F , that is a hard place to live in the winter ! , Anchorage being on the coast only -10 F tonight ...yikes

Dale I would think the lack of sunlight might be harder to take than the cold temps. The raw beauty of the Alaska wilderness helps to make up for it's ruggedness. But I still don't know if it would be enough for me to forgive the winter. LOL

Yup , you got that right... 5 hrs and 26 mins of daylight today , but we are turning the corner with the solstice and eventually we will climb up to almost 6 mins a day of added daylight
