I would like to hear from those who grow Tall corn or even those who have experience in various solutions in keeping plants from blowing over in heavy constant winds or storms. I'm thinking of putting in 16' 3" pipe (4 ft in the ground)at the ends of 36' rows and serpentine some line through the stalks for stability w/ lines graduated going up @ every 3'. Is that over kill or is there a simpler Idea out there? Storms last night layed all of our Tall corn over at only 1&a half ft tall. What says You. Thanks

I have seen PVC placed in the ground, along with fortresses in which it grows up through.

Joseph I agree with Linus. The Jala and Mercador tall corn I've grown in the past is pretty darn sturdy once it gets a little taller. My stalks were 8' + when that Derrecho blew through here last summer and it only toppled about 10% of them.

Tall corn which is stabilized typically grows taller, with a skinnier stalk.

Thanks for the Input Guys..Its already getting pretty darn thick at the base since I've posted this Question so I'll let it go solo and see what happens for now.
