Too bad they give him credit for CT's biggest when, to my knowledge, my 840 is still tops in CT. The press seems to never get stuff exactly right.

Hey Ken, You might also remind Mike at AGGC. His CT record page shows the 821 as the CT record too. Even though your 840 is listed as grown in CT? I though maybe he had it classified as a Squash? But it doesn't look that way. Just an oversight probably. Could CPTV have used his website as their reference?

Dave did have the record here for 2 weeks I think. So the 821 was the first pumpkin in CT to exceed 800 lbs. Sort of a record.

My 840 was ruled a pumpkin by the 5 judges at Topsfield (a GPC site). His pumpkin was the "first over 800" just because he weighed it first? Wow, that is really "searching" for fame!! LOL!!

Yep I was wondering what constitutes a sound fruit as well. Pretty soon we will be giving kudos for the first seed to emerge in the spring.

In all fairness I do think that the greatest pumpkin ever grown, small hole or no, a little bit rotten or no, weighed early or not, is still the largest ever grown. My sincerest admiration for that fruit will long remain a memory. Wish I could have actually seen that sucker, in real life, before she caved in. Had I known that beast was there, in time, my wheels would have been, on the road.
