Hello fellow Big Pumpkin growers! A few weeks ago I decided to embark on "The journey" and started the new hobby of attempting to growing giant pumpkins. I began by germinating a few "Atlantic Giant" seeds I purchased online off of Ebay. I planted the seedlings in some very small 4 inch peat pots until they were three weeks old, at which point I would plant them outside.

However, somebody in my house who knows absolutely nothing about plants, thought my plants needed direct sunlight and put them outside. These plants where in very small pots and the moisture immediately evaporated and causing the plants to die within a few hours.

Nobody in my house is will to admit that they moved the plants outside and the three weeks I spent taking care of them is ruined.

You could say that I was a little more than upset combined with feelings of anger and disappointment all rolled into one....

I would still like to try and grow giant pumpkins and I decided that If I am going to try again, I might as well look for superior genetics this time around, instead of planting some random seeds I bought online!

If you are willing to help me out, I can reimburse you by mailing back a few stamps or possibly even sending a few dollars through paypal.

I have read that there is a "brotherhood" with growing Big Pumpkins and I will document the entire process with pictures, as well as keep a growing log.

I've done hours of research regarding the ph, nutrient, drainage requirements of the soil and plants, so you can rest assured that these seeds will be well taken care of!

Please send me a private message and I will gladly respond with my address and continue our discussion there!

I greatly appreciate your help, Thank You!

Hi, welcome to bigpumpkins. Your family did you a favor by killing the generic plants. you'll need to provide your email address if you wish for people to contact you. Have a look at my the first few pages of my diary from last year on this site. If you like what you see click on the envelope next to my name for my email address. Good luck

Get rid of your 4" peat pots. Try a larger one. The big clear deli cups work great. Put the lid on, cut the bottom out and use upside down.

I am also looking for some Giant Watermelon seeds as well if at all possible! I had purchased some "generic" "Carolina Cross" seeds and these were destroyed as well! I have read enough information online to see that you can't grow a giant watermelon or pumpkin without first having superior genetics!

I will be picking up some bigger pots for this second attempt as well as keeping the plants in a locked area! Thanks for the immediate responses!

Swaintech thank you for the seeds you sent me!

I have just germinated the 1049 Swain 2013

I'm really digging the orange color that the Swain had. It should make for some giant jack-o-lanterns

Brotherdave thank you for the seeds you sent me!

I have germinated the 207 Cantrell 2011 Watermelons, 165 Cantrell 2010 Watermelons , 995 Slone 2013 Pumpkin, 1548 Marsh 2011 Pumpkin, and 1557 Hilstolsky 2009 Pumpkin!

I'll start posting pictures in the grower diaries once the seeds spout!

Thanks Again guys!
