Maybe, time to go out at 11 pm with a flashlight.

Yeah, the whole neighborhood is here - glad you said in your diary that it is not just a monoculture;
I'd say some caterpillar-type creature at the edges, the entire holes by slugs/snails and the tiny perforations to begin with = cucumber beetles;
I forget what squash BUG damage looks like, lol.
I've also never seen any caterpillars on my PLANTS but I know that they position themselves very well for edge feeding - chomp, chomp, chomp...per Gritty, use a good SPOTlight and shine it UP through damaged leaves as well---eg

The only buggers I’ve seen are the cuke beetles, and they seem impervious to my attempts to get rid of them. I haven’t seen any catapilars or slugs, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t present. I’ll figure it out, thanks for the input.

There's a cadre of night bugs half dont even have names for because they are nocturnal. Silverfish for example.

You can read up on everything I say about Imidacloprid for cucumber beetles, but please don't buy something else and then try to use it for what it is not labeled for - I don't care, per se', but you could drive PAST a Home Store and still find Bayer or similar 'Complete ' insect spray that'll do the trick - one quart, one tbsp./gallon H2O will last you years; Also seemed to work on Squash bugs. Just ONE plant-wide application when kitchen table-sized and again once cukes are seen to be infesting again - that is it for me. eg

PS _ Gritty: 'Night Bugs' sound like a good name for ones to be worried about, lol---eg

Do you all have species of slugs up there? Here I can usually spot a snot trail either on the ground or leaves. Good luck figuring it out, that is frustrating.

We definitely have slugs but I haven’t seen any evidence around the pumpkin plants, only in and around the greenhouse. Having said that, some of the damage looks like it was caused by slugs.

Among other things, I’m going to spray all the plants with Bordo, a copper based fungicide. Should deter the slugs anyway.

Andy. I always like "What If " experiments. Since bugs are a wax material, and we use ammonia based cleaners to clean the SPLAT off our windshields. What if you drove 1' by 1' stakes around your garden with ammonia soaked cloths attached and let the prevailing winds spread the vapors around . Would this deter the bugs? Jim

That’s an idea worth trying, thanks Jim. It could work in the same way that the mint plants in the greenhouse keep the aphids away. For the price of a bottle of ammonia I’ll give it a try.
