            | SleepyHollowPumpkinFarm | Fitchburg , MA | Hi,The last couple years i have been fighting powdery mildew and downy mildew and i believe black rot or gummy stem rot.
This year i used eagle about every 14 days. I had a great looking plant but then i experienced aborts in my first 4 pumpkins between 14-25 DAP.
I think i may have been overwatering which contributed to my issues. I am a bit of a newbie and when i was on vacation i set my timer to water frequent short bursts. 3min every hour. Sounds like a lot looking back.....
Next year i am going to plant in a different patch and i am looking to get a mist blower, and some out door fans to help dry out the patch in the evenings. I want to do more of a comprehensive fungicide program.
Any suggestions on fungicide programs would be great.

            | big moon | Bethlehem CT | Hi enchanted farm,I just saw your diary that is Yellow vine disease. It is a bacterial disease brought in from squash bugs. You have to stay on top of them with a good contact insecticide like bifenthrin or permethrin. YVD will eventually cause every pumpkin to abort. It sometimes takes a bit before the pumpkin goes down. but they all do. Sorry that had to happen to you. | 8/29/2020 10:22:43 PM |

            | Andy H | Brooklyn Corner, Nova Scotia | I had exactly the same issue here Enchanted farm, so much that only one pumpkin made it out of four plants. Thanks Big Moon, I also had yellow vine disease but I didn’t know it was caused by squash bugs. Even the cucumbers aborted all but two fruits. I don’t have a solution other than planning for next year.
