Hello All!

I am new to this forum and fairly new to growing pumpkins. Just the other day my big beautiful plants took a turn for the worse. ( Starting with the Connecticut Field variety )

Yellowing stems and blotchy browning leaves. I have looked and tested for Gummy Stem but don’t notice any sap or lesions. I haven’t seen any white powder on the leaves but decided to try the milk solution today to see if it helps at all. My plants are growing in a location unused last year for any crop so rotation isn’t much of an issue.

I’d like to share some pictures to see what you all more experienced growers think. ( just not sure how to post pics yet on this forum) Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated.

could be downy mildew, it moves through the plants fast

...could it be Phytophtora?...that moves pretty quick as I understand it

I don’t see any lesions and the description of Downy Mildew seems to fit well. After reading up on Phytophthora.... I really hope not. That sounds pretty devastating!

We’ve had heavy rains here in VA and I now realize that my plant spacing is a little tight and preventative thinning would of helped air flow/ drying.
