Can anyone please tell me how to take care of a stem split....The stem split lenth wise and is about 2 inches long. Do i put captan in it and then fill it in with clear silicon?......Chris

It is my understanding that in your situation, your main concern is with rot. An application of captan or benlate mixed with water to make a paste is a common way to treat this common problem. Every few days, put more on top of the old layer to build up a bandage. Some growers keep the air moving over the area with a fan to try to dry it out.
