What is the best insecticides to use that are cost effective? I'm looking to kill squash bugs and cucumber beetles.

I'm switching from bifenthrin to permethrin, same class of insecticide. From what I have read on it. Permethrin will last longer and it acts as a repellent also. Says it will kill eggs as well as grubs and adults. $22 a quart. Permethrin is what they are using for mosquito and tick repellent on clothes and will last up to 2 weeks even after being washed. It is also toxic to bees like all the rest of the stuff we use.

After doing some more research, bifenthrin and permethrin are equally as good. Permethrin breaks down faster in sunlight than bifenthrin. I talked to one grower that uses it and he likes bifenthrin xts better. The bifen xts is higher concentration than bifen i/t.

A good buy would be bandit (imidiclorprid) merit same thing. For $150 you get 16 1.6 Oz packs. Lasts me 3 years. You can use as a systemic and a contact. And I know it works great and won't go bad, because it's in powder form. 1 teaspoon per gal as a contact will kill everything. Except the woodchuck in the neighbors yard.

Used Bifen IT in hot conditions for 4 or 5 years, at 1tsp per gallon I have seen no affects on pumpkin plants. It was over 90 at 7pm last time I sprayed.
This year I am alternating Imidiclorprid with Bifen and having much better results on cuc beetles. I always have a terrible cuc problem and I am sure the imidiclorprid is the reason.
