Just looked at the stems on my Brown/Cox seed cross(two pumpkins on one vine 125cir. and 94cir.) Both stems are split, one I can put a finger through it. We just had two days of rain and cool weather. Can anyone tell me what caused this. Bad genetics, stem stress,or just bad luck. I will try to fix one, clean with bleach 10% and caulk. Second year grower. Thanks.

IF the split isn't into the cavity, air and drying is your friend. See this diary post: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=55762
