Note: This disease appeared on the part of this plant closest to my debris pile. It seems like insects overwintered in my debris pile, contracted the pathogen, and then spread it to my plant. The lesson in this is to keep your debris pile as far from your plants as possible.

I checked the underside of a few leaves today just because I saw an adult squash bug nearby and I was surprised how many little bronze egg clusters I found. Pretty much on every leaf I checked then I thought to myself how am I going to check every single leaf, yea no f'n way? I will need to figure something out for next year because obviously sevin insect killer didn't preclude that from happening

I've had good luck with just rotating Bifenthrin and imidacloprid. The problem is that these insecticides only kill the insects AFTER they've transmitted the disease. I think a greenhouse/screenhouse is in my future

Personally, I think GPC should separate the growers that grow in a natural environment to the ones that grow in a controlled environment. Nissan Sentra ain't beating a Ferrari f40 given equal drivers on similar track. Apples to oranges but it kinda works :-)

You're right Nick, insecticide only works after they could have transmitted the disease. After loosing 4 plants in 5 years to yellow vine disease, I covered my patch in insect netting this year and it's been great! Less spraying = healthier leaves too. If only it kept out the fusarium...
