Believe it or not when pumpkins are putting on these huge gains they need very little food, just water. My patch has not had any amendments for weeks and apart from fusarium the plants and most importantly roots look very good. At the moment watering is all about the pumpkins so each plant gets 26 gallons of water 5 times in a 24 hour period. This works out at about 130gallons a day which will be reduced in the coming weeks as the pumpkins slow down. I hope this is useful and enjoy the ride, good or bad with me. I’m certainly finding it very lonely not having Stuart by my side. Ian

Sorry, Ian - I sometimes (usually) say something that may be misconstrued as sarcastic or below par, being a non-HH to one of the 2 Greatest, ever. *I really meant that it looks hungry, like a beast we don't wanna be on the menu for.* THANK you for the explanation, though, that I'm sure EVERY grower will gain some insight from, where although I am of a different, uneducated, 'more is always better' philosophy, I fully respect that you are the EXperT! Take care and WE are here for you to share your thoughts with, always. Be well & give it Hell! eric g

Go Bagheera. Its harder to enjoy the ride alone. The internet isn't the same as a brother.

Thanks for the watering info - useful and interesting. That's an astonishing amount of water! Love seeing your pumpkins grown and look forward to seeing them at weigh-off
