Did you by chance use round up to control weeds? They have switched from Glyphosate to Diquat dibromid (in residential apps) which can stay in the soil for 1000 days compared to old Roundup we often used years ago.

Did you purchase compost from somewhere new? I had trouble with compost from a legit company years ago, they cannot always control what's in it given the amount of material they take it to make it.

If not, I agree with "PorkSHOP"

LOL. I sure hope I didn't make an old girlfriend mad hahaha. You never know though! I have not added compost in several years. Since my patch has trouble with drainage I felt that my organic matter was good enough without needing to add more compost
