Nyeah, roadside gravel (RSG) is probably hard to penetrate for any roots, butt roadside gravel weeds (RSGW, lol) seem to do just fine or at least survive there. In this experiment, it is COmPacTed and without any Myco added until the CC was added. The CC of grass seed is to not only grow a CC indoors that I was doing already butt also to assist the poor little AG in its quest to root more effectively in a GrITTy environment, with possibly the added fertility of, OMG, RSG. It is ongoing and don't struggle, just say 'Ohhhh. Wowwwww...Hmmm...' and all will be well, lol. Next pic for you---eric g

There has been thus far no fertilizer added to this unit. Just grass seed, spring tap water, Myco from the top, eventually, and the initial RSG; I recall watering this in the sink and the CC having ANOTHER benefit of possibly reducing the splashing of hydration. eg
