Keep a comfort/experimental plant of your own seed for months for fun and support, lol. If I were to expend the $ for lighting, even very little, I'd be trying, as others have succeeded at, creating crosses as the snow flies. I'm sure it's too cold in the basement for it, but the thought is always there.
