What kind of bees are those in your diary? Zombee apocalypse lol.

Squash bees. Found out at a commercial pumpkin growers conference a few years ago they are the main pollinaters of pumpkins. They are ground dwellers. We were told that placing honey bee hives in our fields was not effective. They have many fine hairs on their bodies and can look like a big pollen ball when they are in a flower with lots of pollen.

Squash bees are native. I used to find them by the dozens lazing in blossoms, drunk on pollen, while working the patch early in the morning.

Now cicada killers are another subject....
