I have a big marrow that has ripened to orange and green stripes. Is this allowed in competition or do they have to be green?

No, orange is never allowed as a marrow colour. True marrows will be whitish yellow, green or striped, but the stripes will always be the above two colours. Orange means it has been crossed with a field pumpkin at some stage.

OK I've posted a couple pictures in my diary. Let me know what you think.

I'm a giant veg judge, and I would definately allow it. It is green with traditional yellow stripes. That's quite a regular colour scheme for a marrow. I haven't seen many really big ones with that colour scheme though. I'm sending a bunch of marrow seeds to the GVGO, so make sure you get some of those. All green, croc style.

Great! Thanks guys. I'll post in my diary after the weigh offs with the result. I split a much smaller one earlier that weighed 72 pounds but this has been ripe for a while so not sure if they lose weigh after they are done growing or not. I will see soon! Thanks again.
