Have never seen a bushel gourd cut open however i think i have read that a bushel gourd is much more dense than an AG. Any truth to this ?

Carl:
Hope this helps.
I posted a picture that another Grower posted on BP of a cut open Bushel Gourd. I couldn't find their name or the original link, but this should answer your question of what a mature Bushel Gourd looks like inside.
Its not as dense as a Watermelon and its more dense than an AG because of its growth in the middle.

So if they are more dense than an AG and the Ag chart is used for ott measurements why are they all going wayyyyyy light???

Maybe the same cubic foot of flesh weighs less due to being more porous or possibly even less water content .
Is dense possibly the wrong term to be using ?

Maybe but i did notice that even the smallest of ott is as much as -20 to -30 % . Strange

So what made Doug’s 279.5 and even Chris’s 270 weigh so much...their OTT was 215.5” and 222” respectively??

They are going way light, because some growers are still using the Watermelon chart.
