The 279.5 had an OTT of 215.5. The 232 grown that same year had an OTT of 218.5. The watermelon chart is fairly accurate. It depends on the age of the gourd. BE EXCITED! It sounds like you have a monster! What does the skin look like? Is it still gaining inches? If its gaining inches it is gaining pounds! Best of luck!

My 270 had an OTT of 208 so you could have a new record with yours. Good luck !

I Finally did a rough OTT on this gourd .Rough meaning lost my tape and used 3 cut lengths of string and measured with tape measure. Will buy new tape and redo tomorrow. The plant is still growing ok, and the stem is a nice green, entering into it.Dap is now 79 and has by the string "method" totaled 217.Hard to measure as back is resting along fence and it grew perfectly on its blossom end butt.Vine grew up fence and dropped perfectly straight down.Fatter than tall and by accident there was a 2x2 piece of plywood already under it...Destiny?.Anyway,problem is that I just returned from vacation today and worried i may not be able to travel to Altoona ,PA this coming Saturday. As it is still growing is it possible to take to another place to weigh?Maybe a state weigh station?

New measuring tape puts it at 216 Ott.Noticed that it is getting surface (expansion?) small cracks on exterior.will that cause a problem at any gpc weigh offs ?

Thinking big, your gourd looks just fine. It does seem to be at a mature point. Are you getting any growth when checking the OTT? If not, you may be at a point to get it weighed. Nice job! Check with your local extension office to see if it can be weighed, if a weigh off is not realistic. Hope it goes heavy!

Shannon (Linus) I will be shocked if your gourd does not shatter the 300 lb. barrier!!! The skin looks great. Still gaining inches. Everything looks like it is on target for a new record. Best of luck!!!!

Last minute decision.Iam trying to see if they will accept the fee for entry at site as no time to mail, for the event this Saturday at Altoona,PA.Waiting for answer before entertaining the drive.Just got back from vacation a week ago and felt would not be able to take off from work again this soon. But found out today would be able to..Posted a few pics of gourd that was taken a few days ago, however darn thing still growing..Measured the girth again and now almost hitting 90 inches.Begrudgingly willing to pull tomorrow and take to PA,as there are not any sites in MD.

Took a peek at Linus,s gourd.Wow, what a beauty ! Hope it goes heavy as I feel good for all to get these moving up in weight, just like the "kins".Of course ok with me if mine goes heavy as well.LOL..

Looking at the results page for ones that have measurements it looks like we need to work on a Bushel Gourd chart. They all seem to be going light by quite a bit.
