@ Plummy I'd put some sand under the sides to give a buttressing effect? Sometimes these splits are because the sides arent proper arches so they want to sag under their own weight which transfers the stress to the ends. Also, if the internal temp differs from the external temp, this might create a growth rate differential between the inside and the outside of the fruit? I'm sure there are other water and nutritional factors as well though.

Thanks Gritty, I may try that. I think the main reason for the spit was a sudden downpour of rain. It is now taping just over 211 lbs. How big is yours Steve?

I got a few (most were rotten). I also have a few of the 113's left but not many as I gave most of them away in the UK seed exchange last year.
