I had 2 lopes growing with a watermelon growing between the two. They started to grow fruit when one plant started to get brown spots on it and within two weeks it was completely dead. The other lope did the same thing soon after. I sprayed fungicide on them but every other week . The watermelon grew an 83 pounder on a Holloway seed. Thanks ! really had fun with that

Don't know how everyone else did but the weather wiped out all my plants this year. I couldn't keep them healthly with all the rain.

We had a wet year here .I didn't water the plants at all because when I checked under the mulch it was always wet , so maybe your onto something.I use a couple inches of straw for mulch

I lose plants to the same thing every year, I think the rain splashing dirt on the leaves don't help. I have found if the wind blows just right my lopes go down. For weight estimation use the field pumpkin chart.

I use the 2003 pumpkin chart. It is very close. Where can you find the field pumpkin chart?
