Can't complain, this year was better than the last, despite the weather.

I've finally got 3 going - 1 is about 20 lbs. or so and the other 2 smaller but young -- still plenty of time for them to grow here (the summer heat made it hard to get any pollination earlier in the year but it is finally back down in the low 90s - high 80s during the day now so things are looking better and the plants are still looking good.

The drought did me in. 42 James - only got a 25 pounder. Got a few more on the vine, hopefully indian summer will give them some more time to grow.

check out her diary, I think it would've still grown a lot if it didn't split.

It was still doing about a pound every 2 days then BOOM! 3 inches of rain overnight on the 5th. I think our Ag agents were more dissapointed than me. George Kilgore with the Extension office in Nashville was going to submit all the info to the Tn dept of Ag to get it certified for me. He felt confident it would stand as the state record. He couldn't find any records of any other certified cantaloupes. He said they had weighed one at Allardt a few years ago that was around 40 lbs but he knew it was never sertified. Oh well, there's always next year.

I had two big ones. 29 and 27. Pretty good for my first year. But need some good seeds for next year.
