Here in Central Pennsylvania we have had poor growing weather for maybe the last 5 years. This year it was rain. Last year it was cold and rain. And so on. I think we have experienced climate change in our locale. Things seem to grow, but not big things. It has become depressing. Lots of effort without results. Anyone else feeling that way?

I think in any season, some veg thrive others find it harder growing.

With other veg, it helps growing variety - in a hot year, the squash and pumpkin thrive, in wetter less sunny years other veg do better.

It’s my first first growing giant tomatoes - and sunny this year but often wet and rainy comparatively - but there’s a fair group of giant veg growers in the UK outside of pumpkins, of all types.

Maybe it’s worth growing a second or third veg which thrive in different type of season - that way, in a hot season perhaps toms thrive, in a cool season it might be marrows or leaks. But something will be on form.

Caught a groundhog that has been eating my peppers and sweet potatoes. Since I can't seem to grow a big tomato looks like I will switch to catching groundhogs. Have to find satisfaction somewhere.
