It seems every year on most every plant I get a tomato that’s a little over 4lb. My pb is just a few oz over what most of my giants end up being. What did you start doing different to break into that 5lb plus range?

I would like to say that I made improvements that got me over that number...but in truth...it was volume of plants that did it for me. The more plants you have the better chance of finding that one special one.

Your 4+ in georgia is a great number. What are you using for seeds?

Putting enough food into the very deeply, Well tilled soil....pruning very hard to limit to a vine or two...will finally stick to one tomato per plant this year...I guess master p was right...ZERO new veg growth after day 10-14...pick all those off right away...pick them off so dillgently that you see them popping out in weird places...that works in my garden...dunno bout yours but almost 5lbs in Georgia heat?...I say do what your doing, maybe provide some shade during hottests parts of the day?...good luck!

I have been growing hunts delicious, potato leaf zac, shenoha, and a line of beefsteak for giants. I am only a few minutes from the Tennessee line so I really don’t have the heat of southern ga, just lots of clay. After I till I dig a hole about 2ft add 1/2 cup of tomato tone throw all the clay out and add compost and castings mixed in with the small amount of topsoil. I also prune to a singe stem but usually do not cull all of the tomatoes until they are all around a lb.

Me and porkchop like the domingo seed that i gave you and i have grown many over 5 lb with the megazac that i gave you. Good luck !!!

If you cull all the little ones right away until you find the “one”...I feel like that alone could put you over 5...(easier said than done))...add in some dunkles competition blend and ooo baby, look out ...other than that...the standards, mykos, azos...

Chris I’m ready to get those seeds in the ground for sure I appreciate it. Every time I think of pulling all of the smaller tomatoes it sounds straight forward until I’m standing there in the moment and get cold feet second guessing which one to pull lol. I used mykos last year haven’t tried the azos or dunkles yet tho I’ll get on ordering some of that. Has anyone used potash after fruit set? If so do you recommend a specific brand? I’m looking of something to give after fruit set. Thanks for the info.

0 0 25 by growth products kept the 8.41 growing well.

georgia...you have to be somewhat careful with 0-0-25. It is quite alkaline...if you have trouble with alkaline soil to begin with, you might have to acidify it somewhat.

what volume of 0 0 25 solution (gallons) did you give each plant?

I'd very much like to grow a 5 pound tomato this year. :)
