I was wondering if any of you have experience with growing giant onions. I tried this some time ago and was not very successful. I had a friend who was able to grow a 7 pound onion though I did not get above 3 pounds. I worked pretty hard on this starting my plants from seed in my basement under grow lights. I grew the variety alsai (SP). My friend grew his big ones from the plants I had started. He did nothing special that I know of, at least nothing he told me. I am thinking about trying again. Plants are available from a company in Texas or I could try to start from seed. Anyone with any experience? Onions could fit right in with tomatoes. And maybe giant cucumbers?

Tried it this year also. My better ones were in the 3 pound range also. Same variety. ALL mine grew multiple bulbs from each seed. Started as singles but morphed. I "think" I need a different source for seeds. Any leads appreciated. Never got into Facebook. brotherdave01@aol.com

Here is where you can buy some onion plants. I am not sure where to get the best seeds.
