trying to get the humidity up and wondering should I mist the newly grafted plant? Water getting on the graft could either help it or hurt it??

it is ok to spray the plant with mist. It really helps it to heal.

Misting won't hurt anything. It needs to be in 100% humidity.

I may have to try again next year. I fully respect watermelon growers now. I have grafted fruit trees and a tomato... You guys rock...

It is definitely the hardest species to graft that I have done too. Grafting is like handwriting, you sort of form a style that works for you. Others may have a different style or technique. You learn the feel of it, by trial and error. Providing a good environment to heal in is as crucial as the graft itself.

I have one that may have taken out of seven. I am sure it gets easier still at the trial-and-error level. Might take me a few seasons to get competent.

I actually got three to take. Using a spray bottle was an important part of reviving the ones that werent grafted very well.
