I have a good spot where I could put 12x12 greenhouse up. How big a melon might be possible in such a small space? Secondly because I am way low on the learning curve . . . Would a spider pattern to the vines with lots of growth at the stump make a good plant or would a more forward growing plant with a strong apical vine be a better plant? Thank you.

I grew a 141 pound melon in a 10 x 10 spot. The melon plant was on a luffa sponge rootstock.
It is hard to say if pruning a melon plant would make a big difference, most melon growers (that I know) do not train there vines to any set pattern. They allow the melon plant to fill up a designated area then trim anything that grows out of that space.

Thanks. I do intend to try grafting. If I can somehow manage 12x24 I will do so and if I have time I will manage the vines as best I can. Trying to learn. I appreciate you sharing your notes with me... Grow big!
