As well, and as I've pointed out elsewhere, people are depicting whatever discussions they have with the individual growers' diaries rather than posting a new message about it. So, the expected General Discussion and other items may be being brought up ON here butt not on a respective board. eg

Yeah, I noticed too. I figure it's just much more chat on the dairy comments. Idk though. I know uploading is very slow on here so I don't post as much on here as I do on my Instagram, so could partly be that?

I thought the same and realized I started growing during the middle of the pandemic and everyone had more time to post.

I started about the same time you did Sankalp. I've posted to the other Facebook sites, but the folks in here actually provide some insightful explanation when you ask questions. I just prefer my science combined with some experience I guess. I posted here less last season because I was out of it early and to be honest, a little frustrated. Anyway, the font on the damn Iphone is to small to read without my glasses. :)

Things have definetly slowed down over the last decade. Social media part of it. Slow uploading for pictures (what a trauma it is to have to wait 10 seconds sometimes or lower picture size to accomodate the site). The older growers were friends and while there were some heated discussions many were turned off from posting because of the attack dog mentality of some posters who do not know how to put up a proper arguement to disagree with a post. People with mentallity of only responding to a chosen growers post. Some only come in to post about their auction od others that do not read the site but are only concerned about their immediate problem instead of learning so they can spot new problems early on. The one thing this site has always offered that the other sites don't is the chance to have a good quality discusion that everybody can read as opposed to private messages and that is a big part of why the the size of pumpkins have shot up overall(sharing knowledge for all to see) This is just my observations based on only being on the site since I believe from 2009 and remembering posts I have seen Have a good day and growing season!

Well said Spudder! Many growers come and go over the years, really "into it" for a few years then the novelty and excitement wears off for them due to various reasons. Just here alone, one of original World hotbeds for top growers and results, we have lost many great growers unfortunately. However lately we are seeing a new wave of younger growers which is encouraging! May the best pumpkin win!

Spudder,
I think I maybe one of those that comes on for the purpose of addressing and immediate problem. Hopefully I do occasionally add some good discussion. I usually have a bunch of questions that pertain to my current situation but in my defense and toward the value of this site, I come here because I think most of the folks here are experienced and willing to help. I prefer discussion to reading old data. The problem with asking questions on the social media sites is that about half of the answers aren't logical or are just flat out BS. There never seems to be consensus on anything more complicated than what hoop hoe one should purchase. In addition, there's a lot of self promotion, seed scalpers preying on newbies, and product influencers. On this site you might even get an occasional "I don't know". Only smart people give that answer to a question. You'll rarely here that answer given on the Facebook sites.

You are not wrong in using this site to address problems but I will bet that you also read when others post a problem because it seems to me that you are willing to learn. When you ask a question here that is an accurate assesment in the difference bwtween everybody learning and getting info instead of just a few on farcebook. And remember when you read 10 yr. old posts on a problem, treatments might have changed. Plus I cannot recall you attacking anybody because of a dirreence of opinion on a subject Grow em big
