            | Little Ketchup | Grittyville, WA | Does it matter if they are pollinated in the evening or the next morning? I have been pollinating the gourds whenever my schedule will allow it, usually 9 pm but also midnight or 5 am. Would the pollination time affect the size?
I guess since its cool and humid at night, the flowers and pollen are able to last longer, giving a more lasting window for pollination... about twice as long a period of fertility as for pumpkins...?

So far the best is the one that got pollinated at 5:30 am but maybe thats just happenstance.

            | Garwolf | Kutztown, PA | I didn't grow one this year but last year I pollinated around 9 p.m. grew 109" one. Not big, but it was my first try. Wow1 what a lot of vine growth those things put out. | 7/19/2024 3:12:08 PM |

            | Garwolf | Kutztown, PA | LOL, I just Googled "Lagenaria". When I initially read this post I thought that was just some fancy Gritty Science term for "Long Gourd". Well I got the pollination time right any way. LOL | 7/25/2024 9:13:40 AM |
            | VTJohn | Jericho Vermont | I pollinate around 7 pm. | 7/25/2024 3:53:05 PM |
