Was wondering how everyone gets their garden ready for winter. Do you pinch off tomato buds, plant buckwheat cover crop, mow, till, add dirt, do soil tests, cover, burn, add supplements, for raised pots bring em inside. Asking now cause golf balls sized hail occurred not far to east

Hopefully the hail missed you but if it hit, I would plant a cover crop or better yet plant a crop that could serve as a cover crop but also be food. Spinach is a good one to plant now and through September. Different greens, like Mustard, turnip, bok choi, napa cabbage etc. can still be planted in most parts of the US. Daikon or watermelon radish do excellent when planted this time of year.
