Murphy's Law

The older first leaves are dark green thick and wrinkly with the leave sagging like it would look when wilting. Rest of plant is good. Been watering underneath lightly twice a day due to 90 degree temps. Is this due to to much watering or some kind of over fertilizing?

There's could be a chance of overwatering if your soil is claylike. From what I've read here the vines actually thrive in the heat. My puny vine I have is doing a similar thing and the first thing I thought was I might have gone overboard on the watering.

Time2,

My old growth look exactly like you've described on two plants. Sagging but not wilted. Very dark green, thick and somewhat wrinkly just like you've describe. Very thick heavy stalks and vines too. To much nitrogen early on maybe???

The bloated leaves you describe sounds like the result of too much nitrogen.

KC that's what I think too. My soil test last fall indicated to much nitrogen and I had problems with it last year too. This year none of my amendments include nitrogen. I'm hoping it leaches out by next season. Also, when choosing a cover crop this year I'll go with one that depletes nitrogen. Fortunately though like Time2grow it's only in the older leaves. For me the first 3 or 4 secondary vines on each plant.

We have the same I think probably just the weight of the leaves slowly sagging down wouldn’t worry about it but if you want to confirm it send me a photo WhatsApp 07816380310

My older leaves way out on my secondary's tend to do this. I've never had a problem with it. Its like instead of cupping up, they cup down. lol
