I've found that seed drying trays that fit atop a box fan can also be used to dry other garden items like tomatoes and apples. I dried a five gallon bucket of apples in 24 hours using eight drying trays stacked on a box fan, with a heater set on low. Tomatoes do take longer. It may be a rewarding project to save your pumpkin seeds and if you take the time to make some extra trays you can dry quite a bit of stuff. The next thing I will be drying is mushrooms. Hopefully 5 gallons! I will really be surprised if you regret building some extra trays in addition those you may use to dry your pumpkin seeds.

I used 1/4 inch hardware cloth and the trays I use are 19.5 inches square x 1.5 inch deep. I can also inlay window screen into the trays and sift/sort/dry smaller seeds like kale. I hope these ideas help you with your garden. And no, not picking hallucinogenic mushrooms. Chanterelles if you must know!

I've made some close to yours, I have three trays that will stack onto each other and each one has a different size mesh for straining stuff. I originally made them to sift soil
