What's the biggest pumpkin you've culled? Have you ever just been so underwhelmed with your keeper that you started over? Or maybe your pumpkin cracked and you pollinate again. At 30 DAP with OTT of 244 = 335 lbs, steady gains of 20 lbs daily. The plant looks good, but could another pollination possibly outgrow what I've got? Here's another follow up question...Do you consider most pollinations on the main to be equal? Is it just the plant, or is each pollination unique? Thanks!

My question isn't meant to sound as whiny as it does....

I'm no monster grower, NEVER on-time, lol, but i've always been happy to see a # of days X 10 as in at 30 days/300 to be pretty good for ME, so, I'M happy with your OTT, lol - and, it does go up faster as the inches increase? hence, next week @ 500-550? that's when you can get amazement from folks who don't know a pumpkin can grow that quickly, and in MY case, 700 would be soooo welcome - i have a few marbles out there, lol---had to toss an early one on my 2003 Haist and one on a Gary Adams 1200 UOW (2145 X 1495, a dream cross)---very long stem on the Haist, so, looking forward to that next marble, lol---eg

At this time of year if it is 30 days old and it is growing everyday I go with it no matter the size. If you culled it You may have issues where you cut it off there is alot of energy going to the pumpkin and all of that has to go somewhere so you would probably get big splits on your main vine.

I have done squash at 100lbs+ since they seem to abort at the larger sizes. Pumpkins are culled at smaller sizes.
